Duties and Responsibilities
Successful candidates may be responsible for:
- Recording and documenting financial transactions.
- Maintaining the General Ledger and reviewing transactions posted in QuickBooks.
- Preparing and analysing financial statements, including cash flow statements, balance sheets and profit and loss statements.
- Conducting bank, cash, debtors and creditors reconciliations and resolving discrepancies.
- Preparing, reviewing and monitoring budgets, forecasts and cash flow.
- Reviewing financial documents, supplier invoices and LPOs before payment approval.
- Monitoring accounts payable and supplier obligations.
- Preparing and submitting annual tax returns and supporting statutory compliance.
- Ensuring timely payment and proper documentation of PAYE, SDL, NSSF, VAT, service levies, provisional tax and other statutory liabilities.
- Maintaining accurate fixed asset records and supporting asset verification.
- Assisting with internal, external and tax audits by preparing schedules and supporting documents.
- Supporting the implementation of audit recommendations.
- Ensuring compliance with IFRS, Tanzania tax laws and company accounting policies.
- Supervising and coordinating Accounts team activities where required.
- Providing financial analysis and recommendations relating to cost reduction, revenue enhancement and profit maximisation.
- Performing other accounting and finance duties assigned by the Finance Manager.
Qualifications and Requirements
Applicants should meet the following requirements:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
- At least one year of progressive accounting experience, including team supervision or leadership responsibility.
- Knowledge of tax compliance and regulatory frameworks.
- Proficiency in accounting software, including experience with QuickBooks.
Candidates should demonstrate good attention to detail, accuracy in financial record keeping and the ability to work effectively within an accounts team.
