The Weights and Measures Agency (WMA) is inviting applications from qualified, competent, motivated and dynamic Tanzanian graduates for nine (9) volunteering opportunities in various professional cadres.
WMA is an Executive Agency under the Ministry of Industry and Trade, established in 2002 under the Executive Agencies Act, Cap. 245. The Agency operates under the Weights and Measures Act, Cap. 340 and is responsible for implementing its mandate in the weights and measures sector.
The 12-month volunteering programme is designed to support professional development by giving young graduates an opportunity to gain practical workplace skills and experience in their respective fields.

1. Assistant Weights and Measures Officer – 5 Posts
The Assistant Weights and Measures Officer will support activities involving measuring instruments, working standards, fieldwork preparation and basic computer system operations.
Duties and Responsibilities
The successful volunteers will:
- Adjust measuring instruments.
- Care for working standards.
- Mobilize working tools and equipment before and after fieldwork.
- Perform daily system initialization and backups on computer systems.
- Perform other related duties assigned by superiors.
Qualifications
Applicants must hold a Diploma in Legal and Industrial Metrology from a recognized institution.
2. Public Relations Officer II – 2 Posts
The Public Relations Officer II will support communication, marketing, stakeholder engagement and public awareness activities of the Agency.
Duties and Responsibilities
Responsibilities include:
- Liaising with communication and advertising agencies.
- Participating in the implementation of marketing plans.
- Receiving and documenting suggestions from stakeholders.
- Collecting and processing information from different sources.
- Collecting data for market studies and e-service needs.
- Implementing awareness and sensitization campaigns.
- Segmenting customers for targeted campaigns.

3. ICT Officer II – 1 Post
The ICT Officer II will support database development, security, maintenance, testing and troubleshooting activities.
Duties and Responsibilities
The successful volunteer will:
- Design, implement and test databases.
- Implement database security and access controls.
- Participate in database design, including server configuration, security, disaster recovery and backups.
- Assist with database structures, logical data models, scripts and stored procedures.
- Participate in creating and maintaining database reference materials.
- Assist in testing application updates, enhancements and changes.
- Troubleshoot and resolve database development problems.
- Perform other duties assigned by superiors.
Qualifications
Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in one of the following or a related discipline:

Duties and Responsibilities

- Participating in drafting project requirements with stakeholders.
- Participating in resource mobilization.
- Taking part in research teams and preparing research reports.

Who Can Apply?
The WMA volunteering opportunities are open to Tanzanian citizens aged between 18 and 35 years who meet the academic requirements for their preferred position.
Applicants must be willing to volunteer in the area to which they are assigned. They must also meet the programme’s eligibility conditions, including the requirement that they must not have been employed by any Public Institution since graduation.
The programme is intended specifically for skills development and practical work experience. Participation should not be interpreted as a guarantee or automatic pathway to employment in the Public Service.

Testimonials, provisional results, statements of results and Form IV/Form VI results slips will not be accepted.
Applicants with foreign academic qualifications must ensure that their certificates are recognized by the relevant authorities, including TCU, NECTA or NACTVET, as applicable.
Where a position requires a specific GPA, applicants must attach a GPA Calculation Certificate issued by TCU.
