About the Opportunity
The assignment is connected to the Zanzibar Joint Program (ZJP), which brings together multiple sectors and UN agencies to address poverty and vulnerability in Unguja and Pemba Kaskazini.
The programme focuses particularly on communities in low-lying areas whose livelihoods, food security, and income depend heavily on the blue economy. Twelve participating UN agencies are working together with relevant government ministries and other partners to address development challenges through coordinated interventions.
The assignment also supports a joint programme on Subnational Financing Solutions, which seeks to strengthen financial solutions for priority groups and improve the seaweed value chain. The initiative aims to contribute to inclusive rural economic development, diversified livelihoods, and increased household incomes for approximately 15,000 seaweed-farming households by 2028.
Both programmes align with the Zanzibar Development Plan (ZADEP 2022–2027), Zanzibar Vision 2050, and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Mission and Objectives
The UN Resident Coordinator represents the UN Secretary-General in Tanzania and coordinates the work of the UN Tanzania Country Team, comprising 23 UN agencies.
The Associate Officer will contribute to the implementation of joint programmes by supporting programme activities, innovative financing mechanisms, partnerships, monitoring and evaluation, resource mobilisation, knowledge management, and communication.

1. Programme Implementation

- Conducting research on innovative financing and blended financing approaches involving public, donor, and private-sector resources.
- Assisting with coordination of financial flows under pass-through funding arrangements, including SDG Fund mechanisms.
- Supporting engagement with financial institutions to improve access to finance for MSMEs, farmers, and marine value-chain actors.
- Contributing to the preparation of financing proposals and resource mobilisation strategies.
- Supporting private-sector participation in programme financing.

3. Coordination and Partnerships
The Associate Officer will:

5. Knowledge Management and Communication
