The National Spiritual Assembly of the Bahá’ís of Tanzania, a Bahá’í religious institution headquartered in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, is inviting applications from suitably qualified, highly motivated, and responsible individuals for the position of Project Manager – Buildings, Architectural, Property & Development.

The successful candidate will coordinate, supervise, and monitor building, construction, property, architectural, and related development projects undertaken by the National Spiritual Assembly. The role will also involve working with government authorities and other stakeholders on land, property documentation, construction approvals, surveying, title deeds, and other statutory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

The Project Manager will be responsible for:

  • Plan, coordinate, and monitor building and property development projects from commencement to completion.
  • Prepare and interpret architectural drawings, building plans, layouts, and technical designs.
  • Supervise construction, renovation, and maintenance works to ensure quality, appropriate use of materials, and compliance with approved plans.
  • Coordinate architects, engineers, contractors, consultants, suppliers, and other professionals involved in projects.
  • Prepare project schedules, work plans, budgets, estimates, scopes of work, and technical specifications.
  • Monitor project progress, costs, timelines, and contractor performance.
  • Identify and report delays, challenges, cost overruns, and other project issues.
  • Conduct regular site visits and provide technical and project management guidance.
  • Follow up on land surveying, boundary verification, property valuation, title deeds, certificates, and other property documentation.
  • Liaise with relevant government authorities, including land offices, municipal authorities, surveyors, planners, and other statutory bodies.
  • Follow up on building permits, planning approvals, construction approvals, and other government requirements.
  • Assist in identifying, evaluating, and managing contractors, consultants, and suppliers.
  • Monitor project expenditure and ensure projects remain within approved budgets.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of drawings, contracts, approvals, reports, photographs, certificates, and other project documents.
  • Prepare regular project progress reports for the National Spiritual Assembly and relevant committees or offices.
  • Maintain updated records and status reports of the National Spiritual Assembly’s properties and ongoing projects.
  • Identify project risks and recommend practical solutions to support successful project completion.

Qualifications and Experience

Applicants should have:

  • A Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Building Technology, Quantity Surveying, Project Management, or a related field.
  • At least 3–5 years of relevant experience in construction, architectural design, property development, or project management.
  • Practical experience in architectural drawing, building design, construction supervision, project coordination, and contractor management.
  • Good knowledge of land surveying, property documentation, building approvals, and relevant government procedures in Tanzania.
  • Ability to read and prepare technical and architectural drawings.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD or related design software and Microsoft Office.
  • Strong project planning, budgeting, reporting, communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
  • Good command of both English and Kiswahili.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • High level of integrity, responsibility, attention to detail, and commitment to quality.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Willingness to travel to different parts of Tanzania when required.

Nature of the Position

This is a full-time position involving both office-based and field-based responsibilities.

Office duties will include architectural drawing, project planning, budgeting, and documentation, while field activities will include regular visits to construction sites, lands, buildings, and other properties.
