Minimum Requirements
Applicants must have a minimum of Grade 12 (NQF Level 4) or equivalent, together with a recognised National Diploma or Advanced Certificate in Public Administration, Public Management, Office Management or a relevant qualification at NQF Level 6. Candidates must also have at least three years’ experience in Arms Control or Administration.
The Department also highlights skills and knowledge including public-sector policies, legislation and regulations, departmental policies and procedures, conventional arms control and the defence industry. Good communication, organising and planning, financial management, problem-solving, decision-making, analytical thinking and computer literacy are among the required skills.
Duties and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will assist in providing secretariat services to the National Conventional Arms Control Committee (NCACC), Scrutiny Committee and other committees and sub-committees.
Key duties include:
- Assisting with documentation received from the registry and determining the nature of applicants’ requests.
- Assisting with the preparation of books for consideration by the NCACC and Scrutiny Committee.
- Liaising with members of the NCACC and Scrutiny Committee.
- Supporting the maintenance of NCACC decision records on the IT database.
