About the Role
The Project Coordinator will oversee the operational execution of assigned customer shipments within Maersk Project Logistics. The role involves coordinating the shipment lifecycle from file creation through final closure while ensuring that customer requirements, quality standards, safety requirements, environmental standards, and applicable regulations are followed.
The successful candidate should be highly organized, solution-oriented, and capable of coordinating multiple stakeholders in a fast-paced logistics environment.
Key Responsibilities
The Project Coordinator will be responsible for the following:
Operational Execution
- Manage customer shipments from file creation through final closure.
- Carry out daily EDI updates and maintain accurate operational information.
- Process SO/PO requirements.
- Coordinate inland delivery activities.
- Ensure shipment information and documentation are properly maintained in operational systems.
- Follow up on operational activities to ensure timely execution.
Customer Relationship Management
- Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned customer accounts.
- Understand customer supply chain requirements and operational priorities.
- Maintain effective communication with customers throughout the shipment process.
- Provide proactive solutions to customer requirements and operational challenges.
- Ensure customer expectations are properly aligned with operational execution.
Shipment Tracking and Deviation Management
- Proactively track shipments throughout the transportation process.
- Identify potential delays and deviations from agreed transport plans.
- Notify customers of relevant shipment deviations.
- Recommend appropriate contingency solutions when operational problems arise.
Supplier and Logistics Coordination
- Coordinate with external suppliers and logistics partners.
- Support the preparation and implementation of transportation plans.
- Ensure Customer Service Instructions (CSI) are properly followed.
- Maintain effective coordination between customers, suppliers, and internal teams.
Compliance and Operational Optimization
- Ensure operations comply with applicable local regulations and company requirements.
- Follow Quality, Health, Safety and Environment (QHSE) standards.
- Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency.
- Support standardization of operational processes.
- Contribute to cost optimization and effective resource utilization.
Qualifications and Requirements
Applicants should have:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Project Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- At least 2 years of relevant professional experience.
- Experience in logistics operational execution, freight forwarding, or project transport coordination.
- Sound knowledge of Tanzanian import, export, and transport regulations.
- Strong stakeholder management skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong prioritization and organizational skills.
