Job Summary
The Part-Time Data Collectors will support Raising The Village in gathering reliable and accurate information from households and communities in selected districts of Kagera Region.
Working under the Field Supervisor, Data Collectors will conduct interviews, administer surveys, collect and verify information, and submit high-quality data using digital survey applications.
Because the position involves extensive fieldwork, successful candidates should be prepared to travel frequently and work in rural and hard-to-reach communities.
Key Responsibilities
Survey and Data Collection
Successful candidates will be responsible for:
- Attending training on evaluation procedures and digital data collection tools.
- Participating in testing and preparation of survey tools before field deployment.
- Conducting informed consent procedures before interviewing respondents.
- Administering household surveys and structured interviews according to approved procedures.
- Following assigned fieldwork schedules and daily data collection targets.
- Engaging respondents professionally and respectfully during interviews.
- Ensuring that collected information accurately reflects respondents’ responses.
Data Quality and Verification
The Data Collectors will also:
- Review collected information before submission.
- Check data for accuracy, completeness and consistency.
- Identify and correct errors where appropriate.
- Follow established data quality procedures.
- Ensure that information is submitted within the required timelines.
- Maintain the confidentiality and security of respondent information.
Digital Equipment Management
Successful candidates may be required to use and safeguard field equipment, including:
- Tablets
- Power banks
- Chargers
- Field bags
- Other equipment provided for data collection
Candidates must ensure that organizational equipment is handled responsibly throughout field assignments.
Qualifications and Requirements
Applicants should meet the following requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in any field from a recognized institution.
- At least 1 to 2 years of relevant experience.
- Previous experience in research, surveys, field data collection or survey management is an added advantage.
- Practical knowledge of digital data collection platforms.
- Experience using SurveyCTO and Survey123 is required.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
- Ability to conduct interviews and use effective probing techniques.
- Ability to verify and review collected data.
Language Requirements
Candidates must have:
- Fluency in Kiswahili.
- Good working knowledge of English is preferred.
- Knowledge of local languages such as Kihaya or Kinyambo is an added advantage.
