Job Summary
The Senior Research & Advisory Associate is a dual-role position combining corporate advisory transaction execution with investment research. The successful candidate will work across TSL’s Global Markets, Asset & Wealth Management, and Corporate Advisory business units, supporting major financial transactions while delivering market-leading research and investment insights.
Key Responsibilities
Corporate Advisory and Transaction Execution
The successful candidate will:
- Lead and support execution of advisory transactions, including:
- Initial Public Offerings (IPOs)
- Bond issuances
- Private placements
- Loan syndications
- Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A)
- Corporate restructuring
- Prepare high-quality:
- Pitch books
- Information Memorandums (IMs)
- Transaction teasers
- Investor presentations
- Conduct financial due diligence and business valuation analyses.
- Perform deal structuring and financial analysis.
- Build and maintain relationships with corporate clients, institutional investors, and strategic partners.
- Support companies undertaking:
- Stock exchange listings
- Rights issues
- Private placements on the Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange (DSE)
- Identify new business opportunities and contribute to business growth through proactive client engagement.
Investment Research and Market Intelligence
The role also involves:
- Producing high-quality:
- Equity research reports
- Sector analyses
- Company valuations
- Macroeconomic outlook reports
- Building and maintaining advanced financial models, including:
- Discounted Cash Flow (DCF)
- Comparable Company Analysis
- Precedent Transactions
- Leveraged Buyout (LBO) models
- Scenario and sensitivity analysis
- Monitoring Tanzania’s capital markets and macroeconomic developments.
- Developing investment strategies to support:
- Global Markets
- Asset & Wealth Management portfolios
- Ensuring all research complies with CMSA, DSE, and applicable regulatory standards.
Client Engagement and Team Leadership
Responsibilities include:
- Presenting research findings and market updates to clients.
- Participating in investor roadshows and advisory meetings.
- Collaborating with Global Markets, Asset & Wealth Management, and Corporate Advisory teams.
- Maintaining research databases and analytical systems.
- Mentoring junior analysts and supporting team development.
Minimum Qualifications
Applicants should possess:
- Bachelor’s Degree in:
- Finance
- Economics
- Accounting
- Business
- Or another related field.
Experience Required
Candidates should have:
- Three (3) to five (5) years of progressive experience in:
- Corporate advisory
- Investment research
- Corporate finance
- Capital markets
Experience in any of the following sectors is highly desirable:
- Commercial banking
- Stockbroking
- Asset management
- Corporate advisory
- Capital markets within Tanzania or the East African region
Preferred Qualifications
The following qualifications will be an added advantage:
- Master’s Degree or MBA.
