Job Summary
The Fixed Income Trader will be responsible for executing, managing, and optimizing trades in government and corporate fixed income securities for both TSL’s proprietary portfolio and client investment portfolios. The successful candidate will contribute to trading performance through sound market execution, effective risk management, and strong knowledge of Tanzania’s fixed income market.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Executing buy and sell orders in Treasury Bills (T-Bills), Treasury Bonds (T-Bonds), and corporate bonds for proprietary and client portfolios.
- Participating in Bank of Tanzania (BoT) primary dealer auctions using competitive bidding strategies.
- Providing two-way pricing to institutional counterparties.
- Monitoring yield curve movements, interest rate trends, and bond valuations to identify trading opportunities.
- Optimizing portfolio positioning based on market conditions.
- Preparing daily market updates, yield curve commentary, and trading summaries for internal teams and institutional clients.
- Ensuring timely settlement of trades.
- Maintaining full compliance with CMSA, DSE, and Bank of Tanzania regulations.
- Maintaining accurate trading records, blotters, and books.
- Working closely with Risk and Compliance teams to ensure audit readiness and adherence to internal control frameworks.
Minimum Qualifications
Applicants should possess:
- Bachelor’s Degree in:
- Finance
- Economics
- Accounting
- Mathematics
- Or another related field.
Experience Required
Candidates should have:
- Three (3) to five (5) years of experience in:
- Fixed income trading
- Treasury operations
- Capital markets
- Strong understanding of:
- Tanzania Government Securities Market
- Bank of Tanzania auction processes
- Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange (DSE) Bond Board
- Be a licensed DATS Trader with the DSE or be eligible to obtain the required authorization.
Preferred Qualifications
The following qualifications will be an added advantage:
- ACI Dealing Certificate.
- Postgraduate qualification in Finance, Economics, or a related discipline.
- SITI/CITI Certificate.
