- Salary: TZS 966,435 – 1,127,022 per month

Position Summary
Justdiggit is looking for a passionate and enthusiastic Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) Young Professional to support programme monitoring, data collection, reporting, and learning across landscape restoration initiatives in Northern and Central Tanzania.
The successful candidate will receive structured coaching, mentorship, and practical field experience while contributing to projects that help communities restore degraded landscapes and strengthen environmental resilience.
Key Responsibilities
Field Monitoring, Planning and Data Collection
- Participate in field monitoring visits with colleagues, partners, and local communities.
- Monitor landscape restoration interventions and support learning activities.
- Collect, verify, and manage programme monitoring data.
- Monitor ecological indicators, including:
- Vegetation cover
- Regeneration
- Biomass
- Soil and water conditions
- Land productivity
- Support baseline assessments, field surveys, evaluations, and context analyses.
- Assist with mapping restoration plots using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and geospatial tools.
- Support planning and coordination of field-level MEL activities.
Data Management, Quality Assurance and Reporting
- Conduct routine data quality checks.
- Support digital data collection using approved MEL tools.
- Compile and organize programme data for reports and evaluations.
- Maintain MEL databases and project documentation.
- Collect and review monitoring data from implementing partners.
- Support preparation of donor reports.
- Assist with report writing and documentation.
Capacity Building and Learning
- Participate in partner training sessions and learning workshops.
- Document lessons learned, best practices, and success stories.
- Contribute to learning and reflection sessions.
- Promote effective MEL practices among project partners and field teams.
Qualifications
Applicants should possess a Bachelor’s Degree in one of the following fields:
- Monitoring and Evaluation
- Forestry
- Natural Resource Management
- Environmental Science
- Agriculture
- Ecology
- Rangeland Management
- Geography
- Development Studies
- Or another related discipline
A Master’s Degree is considered an added advantage but is not mandatory.
Experience
Applicants should have:
- Recent graduate status or up to two years of relevant professional experience.
- Internship, volunteer, research, or work experience in Monitoring and Evaluation, environmental conservation, community development, or a related field will be an added advantage.
Required Skills
Successful candidates should demonstrate:
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, especially Microsoft Excel.
- Basic understanding of Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
- Familiarity with digital data collection platforms such as KoboToolbox or ODK is an advantage.
- Basic understanding of data analysis software such as R, Python, or SPSS is desirable.
- Understanding of Monitoring and Evaluation principles.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in multicultural teams.
- Willingness to travel regularly to remote project locations.
- Fluency in both English and Kiswahili.
