Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the implementation and continuous improvement of the company’s Safety, Health, and Environmental management systems. Responsibilities include:
- Assist in implementing the company’s Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) programmes, policies, standards, and procedures.
- Support the implementation of NOSA and ISO management systems.
- Conduct daily inspections throughout the plant to ensure proper housekeeping standards are maintained.
- Promote SHE awareness through training sessions and leading by example.
- Carry out regular workplace inspections and identify unsafe acts or conditions.
- Prepare daily inspection reports and contribute data for monthly SHE reports.
- Deliver daily SHE awareness talks within assigned areas.
- Monitor and follow up on corrective actions for identified SHE non-conformances.
- Inspect work permits and ensure compliance with permit-to-work procedures.
- Assist in ensuring compliance with applicable OSHA and environmental legislation.
- Evaluate company facilities and operations to ensure compliance with SHE regulations and standards.
- Participate in accident and incident investigations and recommend corrective measures.
- Assist in planning and conducting emergency evacuation drills.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and statutory OSHA requirements.
- Monitor adherence to environmental regulations and policies.
- Comply with HM Group Code of Business Conduct and company compliance guidelines.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications
Applicants should possess:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Safety, Health and Environment, Occupational Health and Safety, Disaster and Safety Management, Industrial Safety and Risk Management, Process Safety Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or another related field.
- Professional certification such as NEBOSH, SAMTRAC, NOSHC, NOSA, or an equivalent qualification.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and Environmental Management Systems (EMS).
- Good understanding of the NOSA system or other recognized safety management systems.
- Minimum of three (3) years of relevant SHE experience.
- Good understanding of OSHA and environmental legislative requirements.
- Experience coordinating internal audits, site inspections, and employee induction programmes.
- Knowledge of work permit systems, risk assessments, and Job Hazard Analysis (JHA).
- Ability to design and facilitate workplace safety training.
- Strong report writing, documentation, and presentation skills.
- Good computer skills, particularly Microsoft 365.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to work under pressure while maintaining high professional standards.
- High level of integrity, honesty, and teamwork.
