Purpose of the Role
The Accountant will play a key role in supporting the Finance Department, Head of Accounts, and Management by handling routine accounting tasks, maintaining accurate financial records, and ensuring compliance with statutory and financial reporting requirements.
Qualifications and Experience
Applicants should meet the following criteria:
- Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 3–5 years of proven experience in finance and taxation
- Age not exceeding 45 years
- Proficiency in both written and spoken English
- Strong computer skills (MS Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
- Additional IT knowledge is an added advantage
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Key Responsibilities
Successful candidates will be responsible for:
- Preparing and reviewing payroll, financial statements, and reports to ensure accuracy and compliance
- Registering new employees for statutory bodies such as NSSF and preparing monthly returns (TRA, NSSF, WCF, etc.)
- Maintaining proper financial records, including tracking creditors and debtors
- Calculating provisional tax, supporting audit processes, and maintaining finance documentation
- Ensuring timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closings
- Conducting financial analysis to guide management decision-making
- Developing and monitoring budgets, including variance analysis
- Reviewing chargeable and non-chargeable time reports
- Managing accounts receivable and payable, including aging analysis
- Computing taxes and preparing statutory tax returns in compliance with regulations
- Processing payments and ensuring timely submission of statutory obligations
