1: Assistant Finance Officer (Volunteer)
The Assistant Finance Officer volunteer role is ideal for candidates with a strong background in accounting and finance who are eager to gain hands-on experience in NGO financial management and donor-funded programmes.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the finance department in several important areas, including:
- Preparing accurate and timely financial reports for both projects and the organization.
- Recording daily financial transactions in accordance with accounting standards and internal procedures.
- Assisting in budget preparation and monitoring project expenditure against approved budgets.
- Ensuring proper filing and safe documentation of all financial records such as vouchers, receipts, and invoices.
- Supporting both internal and external audit processes by organizing and preparing required documents.
- Working closely with programme teams to ensure financial compliance with donor requirements and project implementation plans.
Qualifications & Competencies
To qualify for this role, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- CPA (Certified Public Accountant) – mandatory
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Strong understanding of financial management systems, especially within NGOs or development projects
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software such as QuickBooks, Tally, or equivalent
- High level of integrity, accuracy, and attention to detail
- Strong organizational and teamwork skills
- Previous experience in NGOs or donor-funded projects is an added advantage
Terms of Engagement
This is a volunteer-based opportunity aimed at providing practical exposure and real-world experience in development finance. Volunteers will gain valuable knowledge in:

2: Agriculture Officer (Volunteer)

This role focuses on supporting agroecology and climate-smart agriculture (CSA) initiatives aimed at empowering smallholder farmers, especially women and youth.
Key Responsibilities
Key duties include:
- Supporting implementation of agroecology and climate-smart agriculture interventions
- Facilitating farmer training sessions on sustainable farming methods
- Training farmers on:
- Soil fertility management
- Crop diversification
- Intercropping
- Organic pest control
- Supporting the establishment and monitoring of demonstration plots
- Assisting in farmer mobilization and extension activities
- Collecting field data and contributing to monitoring, evaluation, learning, and reporting
- Collaborating with extension officers and programme teams for effective programme delivery
Qualifications & Competencies
Applicants must possess:
- A Diploma or Degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, Agroecology, or related field – mandatory
- Practical understanding of smallholder farming systems and rural livelihoods
- Knowledge of climate-smart agriculture and sustainable land management
- Strong communication and community engagement skills
- Ability to work directly with farmers in rural settings
- Basic knowledge of data collection and report writing
- NGO or community project experience is an added advantage
