Shanta Gold is seeking a highly experienced and strategic professional to lead its asset protection and site security operations. This role is critical in ensuring that all security systems, risk management processes, and emergency response procedures are effectively implemented to support safe and secure mining operations.
Role Purpose
The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all asset protection requirements while ensuring efficient, secure, and safe operations across the mine site. The role also involves operational planning, intelligence gathering, risk mitigation, and team leadership.
Key Responsibilities
Operations & Security Oversight
- Oversee day-to-day asset protection operations across the site
- Ensure all security posts are staffed according to risk profiles
- Monitor compliance with SOPs, post orders, and company policies
- Coordinate rapid response and emergency preparedness functions
Leadership & Team Management
- Provide leadership and coaching to Coordinators, Team Leaders, and Officers
- Manage departmental rosters and leave planning
- Oversee performance appraisals and staff development
- Ensure proper induction and continuous training of personnel
Reporting & Intelligence
- Compile and submit daily, weekly, and monthly reports
- Gather and analyze intelligence to mitigate operational risks
- Advise management on emerging security threats and trends
- Ensure timely communication of critical security information
Compliance & Stakeholder Engagement
- Ensure compliance with company policies and legal standards
- Represent the company in engagements with government authorities
- Promote security awareness among employees and contractors
Health, Safety & Environment (HSE)
- Champion a strong workplace safety culture

Required Qualifications
- Certificate of Secondary Education (O-Level or A-Level)
- Formal qualification in Policing or equivalent
- Certificate/Diploma in Security and Risk Management
- Knowledge of Voluntary Principles on Security and Human Rights
- Basic IT certification or equivalent
- Valid driving licence
Experience & Skills
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in asset protection/security
- Experience in mining or policing environment
- Proven skills in rapid response and crowd control
- Experience in labour conflict management
- Strong risk management knowledge
- Proficiency in MS Word and Excel
- Excellent communication in English and Swahili
2. Procurement Officer

SMCL is looking for a qualified and detail-oriented Procurement Officer to support mining operations through efficient sourcing, purchasing, and supplier management. This role is ideal for professionals with strong procurement expertise and a commitment to ethical and transparent processes.
Role Purpose
The Procurement Officer will be responsible for sourcing and purchasing materials while ensuring full compliance with company procurement procedures, Tanzanian regulations, and local content requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Liaise with internal departments on procurement needs
- Review and validate purchase requisitions
- Conduct supplier market research
- Solicit bids and competitive quotations
- Evaluate supplier quotations and proposals
