VETA 14400 Opportunities for Skilled Workers April 2026

The Government of the United Republic of Tanzania, through the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology and the Vocational Education and Training Authority (VETA), has officially announced a major opportunity for skilled workers across the country to have their practical competencies formally recognized and certified. This initiative is being carried out under the Mama Samia Programme for Skills Identification and Certification, a special programme aimed at empowering experienced artisans and workers who acquired their skills outside the formal education system.

According to the announcement, 14,400 skilled workers will benefit from this programme by receiving official certification that matches their level of expertise.

Who Should Apply?

The programme targets individuals who already possess hands-on skills but did not receive formal training from recognized institutions and therefore do not hold official certificates.

Applicants are encouraged to apply if they meet the following conditions:

  • They are skilled workers with experience gained outside formal schools or colleges
  • They have at least two years of work experience in their trade
  • They are 17 years of age or older
  • They would like their skills to be assessed, recognized, and certified

These trades represent some of the most in-demand skills in Tanzania’s labour market.

The opportunity is available to applicants from selected regions, including:

  • Dar es Salaam
  • Dodoma
  • Arusha
  • Kilimanjaro
  • Tabora
  • Simiyu
  • Shinyanga
  • Kigoma
  • Tanga
  • Manyara
  • Singida

Applicants are advised to submit their applications at the nearest VETA centre or the District Council offices.

Applicants must submit their applications together with the following documents:

  1. Application letter with full address, three names, phone number, and email address (if available)
  2. Copy of birth certificate, voter ID, national ID, or resident identification
  3. Introduction letter from the local government office confirming residence or place of work
  4. Details of the specific skill/trade for certification
  5. Two passport-size photographs
