Bagamoyo Sugar Limited (BSL), a subsidiary of the Bakhresa Group, continues to play a vital role in Tanzania’s industrial and agricultural transformation. Located in the Makurunge area of Bagamoyo District, the company has rapidly grown into one of the country’s most significant private sugar producers. Established in 2016, BSL was developed as a large-scale greenfield project aimed at boosting national sugar production and reducing dependence on imports. With an estimated investment of over $300 million (more than TSh 690 billion), the project is being rolled out in three phases. Role Overview
The Lorry Mechanic will be responsible for ensuring that all company vehicles, particularly heavy-duty lorries, are in optimal working condition. This role is critical in maintaining efficient transportation of goods and supporting uninterrupted operations within the company.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Inspect and diagnose mechanical faults in lorries
- Perform routine maintenance such as oil changes, brake servicing, and system checks
- Repair or replace defective vehicle parts and systems
- Ensure all vehicles meet safety and roadworthiness standards
- Maintain accurate service and maintenance records
- Carry out any additional duties as assigned by the supervisor
Qualifications and Experience
- Education: Diploma in Automobile Engineering or a Level 3 certificate (or higher) in Automobile Engineering
- Experience: At least 5 years of proven experience working specifically as a lorry mechanic
- Strong technical skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
