Role Overview
The General Manager – Water Center will provide strategic and operational leadership, overseeing daily activities while ensuring the center delivers exceptional guest experiences. This role blends hospitality, tourism, and nonprofit leadership, requiring a dynamic professional passionate about people, impact, and sustainability.
Key Responsibilities
1. Operational Leadership
- Manage daily operations, logistics, scheduling, inventory, and site maintenance.
- Oversee retail operations and Water Center activities.
- Coordinate with global teams on shipping, customs, and finances.
- Ensure operational sustainability in collaboration with regional leadership.
2. Guest Experience
- Lead the launch and ongoing development of the Water Center in 2026.
- Design and deliver immersive, high-impact visitor experiences and workshops.
- Host high-profile guests and groups personally.
- Set standards for guest engagement and storytelling to inspire support for WTW’s mission.
3. Staff Leadership
- Recruit, train, and mentor a diverse team.
- Foster a culture of high performance and excellent guest interaction.
- Promote cultural sensitivity and inclusivity in service delivery.
4. Partner Development
- Build strong relationships with safari operators, donors, and corporate partners.
- Expand tourism networks and revenue streams.
- Continuously improve guest experiences through feedback and innovation.
5. Donor Engagement
- Develop donor engagement tools and systems.
- Integrate compelling storytelling into guest experiences.
- Support fundraising and water initiatives across Tanzania.
6. Financial Management
- Prepare, monitor, and manage budgets.
- Track financial performance and achieve revenue targets while optimizing costs.
7. Collaboration
- Work closely with WTW Tanzania and global teams.
- Develop new initiatives to enhance engagement and impact.
8. Safety & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and local regulations.
- Maintain quality control standards, especially in water filter assembly processes.
Requirements
Experience & Education
- Minimum 5+ years in a similar leadership role.
- Background in tourism, hospitality, or high-end lodge operations is preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality, Tourism, or related fields.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong leadership, organizational, and project management skills.
- Excellent cross-cultural communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Financial and revenue management expertise.
- Problem-solving under pressure and high adaptability.
- Proficiency in English and Google Suite.
Additional Requirements
- Legal work status in Tanzania.
- Willingness to reside in or near Arusha.
- Regional travel as required.
- Self-motivated, proactive, and results-driven.
