The Foundation for African Empowerment (FAE) is a registered nonprofit organization dedicated to sustainable human development and tackling extreme poverty across Tanzania. In March 2026, FAE is inviting passionate individuals to join its team in Arusha and Zanzibar through several exciting volunteer opportunities. Current Volunteer Opportunities

1. Volunteer Accountant – Arusha, Tanzania

Type: Temporary Volunteer (paid volunteer position)
Location: Arusha, supporting initiatives in Tanzania and Zanzibar

Role Overview:
The Volunteer Accountant will oversee financial management and project funds, ensuring compliance with donor requirements and organizational policies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare monthly and annual financial statements.
  • Manage grant accounting and donor-funded projects.
  • Lead the annual audit process and liaise with external auditors.
  • Coordinate budgeting and financial planning with senior management.
  • Monitor cash flow and provide financial updates to leadership.

Requirements:

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s in Accounting or related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of financial management experience, preferably in the NGO sector.
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong communication, analytical, and stakeholder management skills.

2. Resource Mobilization Manager – Zanzibar Island, Tanzania

Type: Volunteer (Full-Time)
Location: Zanzibar Island, with periodic travel to Arusha
Application Deadline: 13th March 2026

Role Overview:
Lead FAE’s fundraising efforts and develop strategies to secure financial resources from government grants, foundations, and corporate sponsors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement resource mobilization strategies.
  • Cultivate relationships with donors, partners, and stakeholders.
  • Prepare grant proposals, applications, and presentations.
  • Ensure compliance with donor reporting requirements.
  • Monitor and report fundraising progress to management.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred) in Development Studies, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in resource mobilization or fundraising in the nonprofit sector.
  • Proven track record in proposal writing and securing funding.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.

Role Overview:
Help FAE expand its digital presence and communicate its mission effectively through social media and marketing initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage social media accounts (Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram).
  • Create engaging content, including blogs, newsletters, and posts.
  • Develop and maintain a monthly content calendar.
  • Engage with the community, partners, and local influencers.
  • Report monthly on communication and engagement activities.

Requirements:

  • Proficiency in social media tools and basic digital photography.
  • Excellent written English and interpersonal communication.
  • Strong time management, reliability, and ability to work independently and collaboratively.
