Internship Overview
CWS is seeking a Gender and Nutrition Intern to join its team at the Nyarugusu Refugee Camp. This role provides a unique opportunity for motivated and passionate individuals to support community-focused programs aimed at enhancing gender equality and nutritional outcomes. The intern will work closely with experienced professionals to implement activities that empower vulnerable groups, including women and youth.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in planning and implementing gender- and nutrition-focused activities within Nyarugusu Camp.
- Facilitate community sessions on nutrition, diet diversity, and gender equality, including support visits to project participants.
- Conduct community outreach to promote awareness, participation, and inclusive access to services.
- Support gender and nutrition mainstreaming across all project activities, ensuring representation of vulnerable groups.
- Assist in data collection, monitoring, and assessment, including preparing sex- and age-disaggregated reports.
- Support preparation of project documentation, reports, case studies, and learning materials.
- Assist in developing Social and Behaviour Change (SBC) materials, training tools, and job aids.
- Document field activities, including attendance, feedback, and success stories.
Qualifications
- Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Sociology, Social Work, Gender and Development, Social Sciences, Nutrition, or related fields.
- Previous experience in refugee communities is an added advantage.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural environment.
- Enthusiastic and eager to learn about gender, nutrition, and community development.
- Proficiency in Swahili and English is desirable.
