Assistant Clinical Quality Coordinator – 3 Positions

Job Summary

The Assistant Clinical Quality Coordinator (ACQC) will work under the supervision of the Quality Assurance Supervisor while maintaining close collaboration with the Clinical Quality Lead. The main role of this position is to coordinate and oversee clinical quality standards across assigned PSS teams, health centres, and outreach teams.

The ACQC will monitor the competency of healthcare providers, support Clinical Quality Internal Audits (CQIA), and ensure clinical governance aligns with MSI clinical quality standards. The position also involves collaborating with peer assessors and project teams to ensure timely completion of donor-funded projects while promoting sexual and reproductive health services across supported regions.

The role also includes preparing regular reports for the Quality Assurance Supervisor and the MSI Tanzania Support Office.

Key Responsibilities

1. Ensuring Compliance with Clinical Quality Standards

The Assistant Clinical Quality Coordinator will help ensure that all services provided in MSI-supported programs comply with both MSI and Ministry of Health clinical standards. Key tasks include:

  • Supporting integration of family planning (FP) and post-abortion care services through technical support and quality assessments.
  • Conducting Clinical Quality Internal Audits (CQIA) and provider competency assessments.
  • Promoting proper counselling practices to ensure informed client choices.
  • Strengthening infection prevention and control (IPC) standards in facilities.
  • Implementing action plans developed during audits, competency assessments, and supportive supervision visits.
  • Ensuring adherence to clinical governance practices such as managing medical emergencies and incident reporting.
  • Conducting regular field visits to monitor compliance with clinical protocols.
  • Reviewing clinical records to identify improvement areas and provide technical support.
  • Ensuring clinical staff have access to updated manuals, treatment guidelines, and safety procedures.
  • Supporting coaching, mentorship, and supportive supervision programs for healthcare providers.
  • Assisting in identifying skill gaps and coordinating refresher training for healthcare workers in outreach regions.

2. Planning and Coordinating SRH Activities

The ACQC will assist in planning and coordinating sexual and reproductive health activities within MSI-supported programs.

Responsibilities include:

  • Supporting facilities to ensure continuous availability of family planning commodities.
  • Working closely with Medicine Therapeutic Committees (MTC) to improve quantification and forecasting of health commodities.
  • Facilitating redistribution of supplies when needed to prevent shortages.
  • Participating in quarterly project review meetings with regional and council health teams.
  • Presenting project performance results and discussing strategies for improvement.

3. Monitoring and Evaluation of MSI Projects

The Assistant Clinical Quality Coordinator will work closely with project teams to support monitoring and evaluation activities.

Key tasks include:

  • Collaborating with program leads and the Reproductive Health Monitoring & Evaluation (RHME) team.
  • Supporting data quality activities such as spot checks, Data Quality Assessments (DQA), and data summits.
  • Ensuring timely and accurate data entry into the DHIS2 system.
  • Organizing routine data spot-checks through mentors and field teams.
  • Following up on incident reports and ensuring feedback is provided promptly.

Minimum Requirements

Qualifications

Applicants must have:

  • A recognized degree or diploma in medicine, nursing, or related medical sciences.
  • Clinical experience in family planning services.
  • Experience in project coordination within the health sector.
  • Strong knowledge of sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR).
  • Experience working with public and private sector partners, NGOs, CBOs, and FBOs.
  • Experience collaborating with Council Health Management Teams (CHMTs) and Regional Health Management Teams (RHMTs).

Experience

Candidates should demonstrate:

  • At least two years of experience working on donor-funded projects.
  • At least two years of field coordination experience.
  • Experience in project budget management.
  • Strong background in healthcare quality assurance.
  • Practical experience in family planning programs and advocacy.
  • Familiarity with Tanzanian government health systems and Ministry of Health structures.
