Position Summary
The Finance & Admin Officer plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of both financial and administrative functions within FHI Tanzania. This position supports day-to-day financial management, budgeting, compliance, and reporting, while also overseeing essential administrative tasks such as procurement, office coordination, and HR documentation.
Working closely with supervisors and program teams, the officer ensures proper stewardship of resources, strengthens accountability, and contributes to efficient organizational operations.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for a wide range of duties, including:
- Maintaining accurate financial records, bookkeeping systems, and proper documentation
- Processing payroll, statutory deductions, and managing petty cash operations
- Conducting bank reconciliations and monitoring organizational cash flow
- Supporting budget preparation, financial reporting, and internal financial analysis
- Ensuring compliance with Tanzanian tax laws and donor regulations
- Managing procurement processes, including quotations, vendor records, and asset registers
- Coordinating office administration, logistics, and operational support tasks
- Liaising with banks, auditors, and donors on financial matters
- Providing staff training on financial procedures to enhance transparency and accountability
Minimum Qualifications
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field
- At least 3 years of relevant experience in finance or administrative roles (NGO experience is an added advantage)
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel for budgeting and reporting
- Experience with QuickBooks is highly desirable
- Familiarity with Tanzanian statutory compliance requirements
- CPA or ACCA certification is an added advantage
- High level of integrity, attention to detail, and ability to maintain confidentiality
- Proficiency in both English and Swahili
