Job Purpose
The successful candidates will be responsible for essential cleaning and refuse management duties. This includes maintaining cleanliness in public spaces and supporting daily operational activities that ensure efficient waste removal across the city.
Key Responsibilities
- Street cleaning and sweeping
- Cleaning refuse bins and surrounding areas
- Collecting, stacking, and handling refuse bags
- Delivering and replacing bins
- Following all health and safety procedures and wearing protective clothing
- Reporting incidents, injuries, or equipment faults
- Interacting professionally with community members when required
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 10 qualification
- At least 12 months’ experience in cleaning or general work
- No criminal record
- Physically and mentally fit for manual work
- South African citizen
- Must reside within the City of Johannesburg (proof of residence required)
Required Competencies
- Ability to follow instructions accurately
- Capability to work independently and as part of a team
- Basic knowledge of tools, equipment, and safety procedures
- Good communication and task execution skills
