Belarus scholarships for the academic year 2026/2027

The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology of the United Republic of Tanzania is pleased to inform qualified Tanzanian citizens that the Government of the Republic of Belarus has opened applications for state-funded scholarships at accredited public universities and colleges for the 2026/2027 academic year, Belarus scholarships for the academic year 2026/2027.

This opportunity is specifically available for students wishing to pursue General Medicine in Belarusian public higher learning institutions. Interested and eligible candidates are strongly encouraged to apply within the specified timeframe.

1. Field of Study

The scholarship is offered in the following academic field:

  • General Medicine – available at accredited public universities and colleges in the Republic of Belarus. A full list of participating institutions can be found on the official Study in Belarus platform (see Section 7 below).

2. Application Requirements

Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:

  1. Fulfill admission criteria of both the Tanzanian education system and the respective Belarusian institution;
  2. Hold CSEE and ACSEE results with Division I, or be a First-Class Diploma holder. Final admission decisions will be made by the admitting university; and
  3. Language proficiency:
    • Most programmes are taught in Russian or Belarusian.
    • Applicants without sufficient language proficiency may be required to undertake a preparatory language course, usually at their own expense.

3. Scholarship Coverage

The Belarusian Government scholarship covers the following:

  • Full tuition fees, funded by the state budget;
  • A monthly stipend, with possible additional allowances based on academic performance; and
  • Accommodation in a student dormitory for the entire duration of the studies.

4. Expenses Not Covered by the Scholarship

The following costs must be covered by the student or other funding sources:

  • International flight tickets;
  • Meals and personal living expenses;
  • Health insurance; and
  • Visa fees and migration registration costs.

Important Note: The Government of the United Republic of Tanzania does not provide supplementary financial support for this programme. Applicants are advised to make independent financial arrangements for all non-covered expenses.

5. Required Application Documents

Applicants must submit the following documents (with notarized translations into Russian or Belarusian where applicable):

  1. A free-form application letter, explaining the motivation for choosing General Medicine;
  2. Certified copies of academic certificates and transcripts, or a current student status letter with marks;
  3. A copy of a valid passport or national ID;
  4. Proof of Russian or Belarusian language proficiency (if available);
  5. A medical fitness certificate and an official HIV-negative certificate; and
  6. A character or reference letter from the current institution (for continuing students).

6. Application Process and Submission

Stage 1: Application Submission

  1. Applications must be submitted to the Embassy of the Republic of Belarus in Nairobi, which is accredited to Tanzania, via email:

Stage 2: University Selection and Interviews

  1. Shortlisted candidates will be notified by universities by 20 May 2026;
  2. Interviews, including possible language assessments, will be conducted by 15 June 2026 (online interviews may apply); and
  3. Successful applicants will receive official admission invitations for visa processing.
