Internship Overview
The On-Farm Intern will support operational activities for existing and future on-farm trials in Tanzania and Kenya. The position is based in Arusha, Tanzania, and involves working closely with the on-farm coordinator, local farmers, enumerators, and other stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
As an intern, you will:
- Organize and manage all logistical arrangements for field activities, including transport, scheduling, and resource allocation.
- Identify, register, and enroll enumerators in selected villages.
- Monitor and follow up on enumerator payments to ensure timely and accurate processing.
- Maintain and manage field materials, ensuring accountability and availability.
- Communicate with enumerators using platforms such as WhatsApp and provide feedback on their experience with data collection tools.
- Support the development of data collection schedules and training of enumerators.
- Supervise data collection and help establish efficient data collection systems.
- Perform other duties supporting project and research objectives as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Ideal candidates will:
- Be enrolled in or have recently graduated (<1 year) with a Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Economics, Community Development, or related fields.
- Demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Possess excellent written and spoken English skills.
- Have experience managing farm trials and performing agronomic tasks.
- Be familiar with Google Docs, Sheets, and Drive (advantageous).
- Have knowledge of data collection tools such as ODK (advantageous).
- Possess skills in capturing crop imagery data (advantageous).
- Exhibit strong interpersonal, communication, and teamwork abilities.
- Be highly organized with strong problem-solving, priority-setting, and accuracy skills.
